MCP connects an AI assistant like OpenClaw or Hermes Agent to your Glanced library, so you can ask what's new, get a briefing on your feeds, or save, tag, and subscribe from the conversation.

Requires a Plus subscription.

MCP uses the same API keys as the REST API. Create one under Automation → API Keys. In your client, set the server to https://api.glanced.io with the /mcp path, and send the key in the Authorization header as a Bearer token.

In the Control UI, go to Settings → MCP and add a server named glanced with the Streamable HTTP transport. Headers go in the config editor, not the basic dialog:

{
  mcp: {
    servers: {
      glanced: {
        url: "https://api.glanced.io/mcp",
        transport: "streamable-http",
        headers: { Authorization: "Bearer glanced_live_..." }
      }
    }
  }
}

Run openclaw mcp doctor glanced --probe to verify the connection.

Tools

list_tagsList your tags with item counts

get_item_detailsOne item's metadata: title, feed, dates, state, summary, tags, notes
get_item_contentAn item's full article text, or an episode's show notes
search_libraryFull-text search across items, feeds, folders, and tags
list_storiesStory clusters: groups of your articles covering the same event
get_accountYour plan tier, quota usage, and entitlements
search_docsSearch this documentation
get_docFetch one documentation page as markdown
mark_itemMark one item read or unread, or save or unsave it
tag_itemAdd tags to one item; missing tags are created
subscribe_feedFollow a new feed by URL

There is deliberately no way to unsubscribe, bulk edit, or delete anything through MCP. For that, use the app or the API.

Article text comes from publishers. Treat anything an assistant reads from your feeds as content, not instructions, and prefer connecting Glanced in a scoped profile without your most powerful tools.

Limits

  • Rate limit. MCP requests count against the same per-key limit as the API. See Rate limits.
  • Pages. List tools return at most 50 items per page. Page through with offset, or with the next_cursor that list_items returns.
  • Tags. tag_item accepts at most 20 tags per call.
  • Subscribes. subscribe_feed allows 10 subscribes per minute; wait and retry when throttled.
